1. Charter Reservations & Payment
To secure your charter dates on the Kenai or Kasilof River, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to your scheduled trip departure, or upon arrival by prior arrangement. We accept all major credit cards and electronic payment methods.
2. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
Because our fishing seasons are short and prime dates are reserved months in advance, cancellations significantly impact our small outfitter business.
- Cancellations 30+ Days Prior: Deposits are refunded in full, less a $50 processing fee per boat day.
- Cancellations Within 30 Days: Deposits are non-refundable. If we are able to rebook your reserved seats with another party, your deposit will be refunded in full.
- Rescheduling: Dates may be moved within the same calendar season subject to calendar availability at no additional charge.
3. Weather, River Conditions & ADF&G Emergency Orders
Alaskan weather is dynamic, and guest safety is our highest priority. All charter departures are at the sole discretion of our licensed USCG Master Captains.
If your guide deems conditions unsafe due to severe weather, high river flow, debris, or river ice, or if emergency regulatory closures are issued by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) that prevent fishing, you will receive the option to reschedule or receive a 100% refund. We fish in rain, wind, and sunshine; trips will not be cancelled for typical Alaskan drizzle. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for Alaska vacations.
4. Alaska Fishing Licenses & Regulations
All anglers aged 16 and older are required by Alaska state law to possess a valid Alaska Sport Fishing License prior to stepping aboard the vessel. If targeting King Salmon, an additional King Salmon Stamp is legally required.
Licenses can be purchased in advance online at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website or at local retailers in Soldotna, Kenai, or Sterling. KR&C strictly complies with all ADF&G daily limits, gear restrictions, and sanctuary closures.
5. Gear, Equipment & Vessel Conduct
KR&C provides top-tier Willie power and drift boats, G.Loomis rods, Shimano reels, and terminal tackle. Guests are expected to treat equipment with reasonable care. KR&C reserves the right to charge replacement cost for gear lost overboard or broken due to gross negligence.
For the safety of all guests and crew, illegal substances and intoxication are strictly prohibited aboard our vessels. The guide maintains the authority to terminate any trip without refund if guest behavior compromises river safety.
6. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
River boating, wading, and wilderness fishing in Alaska carry inherent physical risks, including fast currents, cold water, changing weather, and wildlife encounters. All guests are required to sign a standard liability waiver and acknowledgment of risk prior to departure. Kenai River & Company and its guides carry comprehensive commercial maritime liability insurance and USCG Master Captain credentials.
