How We Catch Them

Sockeye Salmon don't actively feed once they enter the freshwater rivers. To catch them, we use a specialized technique known as "flossing."

The Flossing Technique: We drift a weighted fly close to the bank where Sockeye travel in massive schools.
The Fight: Sockeye are notoriously strong. They will jump, tail-walk, and strip line off your reel.
Limits: The limit is typically 3 per day, but ADF&G often raises it to 6 when counts are high.
