The Run Is On
The Kenai is defined by colossal pulses of fish entering from Cook Inlet. Sockeye surge by the hundreds of thousands from late June through early August, followed by aggressive Coho (Silver) Salmon in August and September. Behind them, enormous resident Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden gorge on salmon caviar and flesh, creating the most explosive wild trout fishery in North America.
